The Site is operated by the owner of earthquakes.co.uk ("we", "us", or "our"). By accessing or using the Site, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Site.

1. Informational purposes only — not an emergency or warning service

The Site provides earthquake-related information for general informational and educational purposes only. THE SITE IS NOT AN EMERGENCY ALERT SYSTEM, EARLY-WARNING SERVICE, OR SOURCE OF OFFICIAL SAFETY GUIDANCE, AND MUST NOT BE RELIED UPON AS SUCH. Earthquake data may be delayed, incomplete, revised, or inaccurate. In any emergency, you must rely exclusively on official government sources and the instructions of local authorities and emergency services. Nothing on the Site constitutes scientific, engineering, safety, insurance, financial, or other professional advice.

2. Third-party data and content

Seismic data displayed on the Site is sourced automatically from third parties, including the British Geological Survey (BGS) and the United States Geological Survey (USGS). News headlines are aggregated from third-party publishers. Map imagery is provided by OpenStreetMap contributors. We do not create, verify, or control this data and make no representation or warranty as to its accuracy, completeness, timeliness, or availability. Third-party content remains the property of its respective owners. The Site contains British Geological Survey materials © UKRI.

3. Links to other websites

The Site contains links to third-party websites, including news publishers and data providers. We have no control over, and assume no responsibility for, the content, accuracy, privacy practices, or availability of any third-party website. Links do not imply endorsement. You access third-party websites entirely at your own risk and subject to their own terms and policies.

4. Advertising and affiliate disclosure

The Site may display advertisements and may contain affiliate links. If you click an affiliate link and make a purchase, we may receive a commission at no additional cost to you. We are not a party to, and accept no responsibility for, any transaction between you and any third-party merchant.

Underlying earthquake data from USGS is in the public domain; BGS materials are used subject to their applicable licence terms. You are granted a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to access the Site for personal, non-commercial use.

7. DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTIES

THE SITE AND ALL CONTENT, DATA, AND SERVICES PROVIDED THROUGH IT ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, OR AVAILABILITY. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SITE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, TIMELY, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE, THAT DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED, OR THAT THE SITE IS FREE OF VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS. 10. Changes to the Site and these Terms

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Site (or any part of it) at any time without notice. We may revise these Terms from time to time by posting an updated version on this page with a new effective date. Your continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

11. Governing law and venue

These Terms, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or the Site (including non-contractual disputes or claims), shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of New York, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. You agree that any legal action or proceeding arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Site shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in New York County, New York, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of such courts. Nothing in this section affects any mandatory consumer rights you may have under the laws of your country of residence.

12. Severability; waiver; entire agreement

If any provision of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable, that provision shall be enforced to the maximum extent permissible and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of it. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Site.
